Microneedling in Alderley Edge & Wilmslow: What It Is, Who It Can Help and My September Skin Reset Offer
If your skin is feeling a little dull, uneven or in need of a reset after summer, September can be a really good time to start thinking about treatments that work gradually to improve skin quality.
At my doctor-led skin clinic in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, microneedling is one of the treatments I use for patients who want to improve concerns such as uneven texture, acne scarring, pigmentation and general skin quality.
For September, I’m offering my Back-to-You Skin Reset: three microneedling treatments for £350.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a treatment that uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin.
This stimulates the skin’s natural repair response and encourages the production of collagen and elastin over time.
Rather than giving an instant or artificial-looking change, microneedling is designed to gradually improve the quality, texture and appearance of the skin.
What are the benefits of microneedling?
Microneedling can be useful for a number of different skin concerns, including:
Uneven skin texture
Acne scarring
Enlarged-looking pores
Fine lines
Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
Dull or tired-looking skin
General improvement in skin quality
One of the reasons I like microneedling is that it focuses on encouraging the skin to regenerate and repair itself.
Results develop gradually, and for many patients a course of treatments is more appropriate than expecting one session to completely transform the skin.
Why might I recommend a course of three treatments?
Skin changes take time.
Collagen production, skin healing and remodelling do not happen overnight, which is why microneedling is often performed as a course with treatments spaced at clinically appropriate intervals.
A course allows us to build on the response from each treatment while giving your skin enough time to recover properly between sessions.
Your exact treatment plan will always depend on your skin, your concerns and how your skin responds.
Can microneedling help acne scarring?
Microneedling can be particularly useful for certain types of acne scarring because it encourages collagen remodelling within the skin.
However, not every scar is the same.
The type, depth and extent of acne scarring all matter, and some patients may benefit from a different treatment or a combination approach.
This is why I always assess the skin properly before recommending treatment.
Can microneedling help pigmentation?
Microneedling can sometimes form part of a treatment plan for pigmentation and uneven skin tone.
However, pigmentation is a broad term and can have several different causes.
Melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation and sun-related pigmentation all behave differently, so it is important not to assume that the same treatment is suitable for every patient.
At DR JACKSON SKIN, treatment is always based on clinical assessment rather than simply choosing a treatment from a menu.
What is the downtime after microneedling?
It is normal for the skin to look red after treatment, a little like mild sunburn.
Some patients may also experience temporary sensitivity, dryness or mild swelling.
Downtime varies depending on the individual and the intensity of treatment, but this will always be discussed with you beforehand.
I will also explain what skincare to use after microneedling and when you can safely return to your usual active ingredients.
Is microneedling suitable for everyone?
No-and this is important.
Microneedling is not automatically the right treatment for every skin concern or every patient.
There are circumstances where I may advise delaying treatment or recommend something else entirely.
Every microneedling course at my Alderley Edge & Wilmslow clinic is therefore subject to a clinical consultation and suitability assessment.
If I do not believe microneedling is clinically appropriate for you, I will tell you.
